Drinking culture - performative reading

Drinking is a part of life: it gives us life, it fuels our lives. We drink to socialise. Our liquids can sustain us—but they can also poison us.

In this event, Aarhus’ Women Write explore the cultural complexities of drinking culture(s)—both literal and metaphorical. Through personal stories and creative writings, we dive into questions such as: to drink or not to drink? What do we drink, how, and why? Our pieces also use drinking as a metaphor for cross-cultural and inter-cultural encounters.

We present our work through performative readings of poetry and prose, alongside other art forms. Audience members will also have the opportunity to take part in a collaborative writing workshop.

To enrich this multi-sensory experience, some members of our group will share beverages we personally associate with home, ritual, or daily life.

We invite you to join us on this cultural and creative journey at Godsbanen on the 30th of August—as listeners, participants, and fellow travelers.
