Aarhus Celebrates!

Join us as we celebrate Festugen's 60th anniversary! A full day of activities throughout the city centre in collaboration with a wide range of Aarhus stakeholders.

"We want to show ourselves and others that Aarhus is a happy city. To some extent, the content will be up to the citizens of Aarhus to provide by joining in with what is being organised both outdoors and indoors."

The words come from the then Mayor of Aarhus, Bernhardt Jensen's opening speech at the first Aarhus Festival Week in 1965.

On Saturday 6 September, Aarhus Festival invites you to a huge celebration of the fact that the people of Aarhus have supported the Festival for 60 editions and showcased the city's many joys of strong communities and a rich and diverse cultural life.

'All of Aarhus Celebrates' is the title of the anniversary day, where Aarhus Festival, in collaboration with a large number of the city's cultural institutions, associations, businesses and citizens, fills the city centre with festive activities, remakes of old Festival events, communal dining and a lively birthday atmosphere in streets and alleys.
