Light Festival: Hesitation of Light

The project utilises 189 lamps with 4 different levels of dispersion, positioned to evenly illuminate the entire structure of the Ringgadebroen. The evening sky with the setting sun is observed and recorded, and just when the sun has set, the bridge is illuminated until midnight, in a sequence created on the basis of the changes in colour and light that have taken place that evening. The same sequence is repeated on the bridge from 5am the next morning until sunrise.

This is made possible by a system that CAVI has developed specifically for this project, where a camera system captures and an algorithm analyses and processes the colours and dynamics of the sunset for the luminaires placed on the bridge.

The project sheds light on one of the unexplored areas of Aarhus, while adding a beautiful sensibility and city gateway status to one of the city's landmarks.

Hesitation of Light mirrors the artistic life of Aarhus K and brings life and security to the edge of this rapidly developing neighbourhood.
