Light Festival: Jorden bærer dit aftryk
The light installation Jorden bærer dit aftryk by Aarhus-based artist Astrid Gjesing can be experienced at three locations in Aarhus: at the 24-hour shelter near Klostertorv, at Rundhøj square, and at Folkehuset Rosenbakken in Skødstrup. The work is based on an original neon piece from 1997, created as part of the poetry installation Night Signs. Through the phrase “Jorden bærer dit aftryk”, the work explores human presence and the traces we leave in urban space. The installation is part of a project that highlights dialogue and urban development, particularly in areas where residents and users are often overlooked. The three locations represent the inner, middle, and outer zones of the city and serve as platforms for reflection and conversation. The work was part of a collaboration during Aarhus Festival 2019 between Astrid Gjesing and the municipal project Lys På Aarhus, connecting the city’s diverse areas through poetry and visual art.
