Light Festival: Posthussmøgen
Hidden within the shapes of the new fence are structural features that were ideal for the integration of an innovative lighting solution. Specifically, iGuzzini Underscore light sources are inserted in the transverse steel brackets above the passageway and the light sources are connected to sensors via a system with a central control unit.
The control unit in the system ensures good basic lighting after dusk, with a calm dynamic effect of the white colour tones of the light distributed among the light sources.
When one of two sensors at each end of Posthussmøgen detects a passing pedestrian, a pulse of warm light is sent down through the light sources from the opposite end of Posthussmøgen towards where the pedestrian is located. In the opening from Fredens Torv, you will see another part of the installation, where a surface integrated into the fence at the end of the entrance is equipped with interactive illuminated text elements. This part of the lighting is designed to draw citizens in and help tell the story of Posthussmøgen. When you get close enough to the surface, it will change character, so that a narrative becomes legible to the person, with a text that provides an insight into the history of the passage through time.
Interaction and dynamics in the lighting will help to increase safety in the passage, creating a link between the passer-by and the surroundings. The fence will no longer be just a fence, but instead a luminous entity that guides the passer-by through the passage, in a visual and historical journey, with Aarhus at the centre.
