Light Festival: Sct. Paul's Church
Sct. Paul's Church has been given an architecturally supportive lighting system that has been designed with respect for this important part of Aarhus' iconic lines.
The lighting has been created in close collaboration with the church and there has been a detailed process with, among others, the National Museum of Denmark and the Royal Danish Building Inspectorate.
Light designer For The Love Of Light has created a system that has really delved into the architectural strengths of the church, where the focus has been on a minimal lighting footprint. The church should not light up the area, but emerge from the darkness, with its beautiful details in highlight.
In addition, lamps have been placed in the lower regions of the square's trees, with the intention of creating atmosphere in the square. The old Louis Poulsen luminaires around the church have even been renovated and are closely integrated into the technical lighting design.
The lighting of Sct. The lighting of St Paul's Church is identity-creating, but also an experiment in how architectural lighting can contribute to increasing safety and the desire to use an urban space. In particular, the square in front of the church, which has previously seemed somewhat lifeless, comes to mind.
