Light Festival: The City is Never Finished
Every city needs a touch up.
The rapid changes in our lives mean that our homes, villages and cities need constant care, repair and sometimes a complete redesign – as we have seen with the many years of urban renewal in Aarhus.
Locals and visitors alike, all relate to the frustration of spotting these yellow detour signs on our desired paths. A temporary inconvenience that can really test our patience.
Tom Biddulph transforms these signs into a mantra for Aarhus: That self-care can also be applied to the city itself.
And after 1,200 years, the city of Aarhus is strong, beautiful and functional, because of the works these signs represent. But it's never finished. It's living and growing, just like us. Or, as we say with this year’s anniversary theme: Aarhus (Festival) – no age!
