SAIGON SOUL REVIVAL
Saigon Soul Revival is a Ho Chi Minh City-based band reviving Vietnam’s golden era music from before 1975. Since 2016, they’ve brought forgotten songs back to life with vibrant live shows and fresh arrangements. Their sound blends Vietnamese lyrics with rock, soul, bolero, and psychedelic textures. The core band of five is often joined by special guests, including award-winning traditional musician Thị Hải Phượng.
In 2019, they released their debut album Họa Âm Xưa on Saigon Supersound, produced by Jan Hagenkötter. The album features both legendary pre-war artists and new voices like rapper Blacka. It was nominated for a Songlines Music Award and received international radio play, including BBC and Radio FIP. Saigon Soul Revival creates a powerful, cross-cultural sound that connects the past with the present — and East with West.
