Streetparty: Gunge

Under the stage name Gunge, Ida Gunge creates catchy pop music with honest lyrics about youth and all that it entails. Her debut release “Ambulance” got off to a flying start with positive reviews, playlist placements, and radio play.

Drawing from personal experiences in a bittersweet and turbulent youth, Gunge writes honest songs in Danish, with a whimsical and vivid language that captures both melancholy and self-irony.

Gunge began her music career in a small, enclosed basement studio in Østerbro. Meeting a hip-hop collective who wanted her for hooks, the Copenhagen-based artist realized that not everything in music needs to be polished, and that boxed wine and hand-rolled cigarettes can also belong in a great pop hook. Later, she found a musical partnership with co-producer and artist Daniel Joy, reflecting her fascination with pop in a version as impactful and emotional as hip-hop.
