Streetparty: Mingus Dynasty Jazzensemble

Mingus Dynasty is a young Aarhus-based jazz ensemble eponymously named after the American bassist Charles Mingus, whose musical approach was characterised by an uncompromising energy and a consistent focus on music as living expression rather than as academic high-cultural jazz.

This approach is what Mingus Dynasty endeavours to live up to in their own music, where energy, rhythmic propulsion and collective presence are key components.

It's jazz that makes you present in the moment - it's physical and danceable, but also exploratory and risk-taking.

The ensemble consists of 4 young musicians who are all active in the Aarhus jazz scene:

Aarhus Volume presents Streetparty at Klostertorvet – 10 days filled with music, talks, and creative vibes during the Festival, every day from 12 noon until midnight (and often later).
