The Biotope – a living artwork where anything can happen, and nothing happens the same way twice. [Set in the old slaughterhouse in Aarhus’ Sydhavn]

A woman in a bathtub filled with confetti. A dancer in constant motion around a microphone. A man in a bear mask serving the audience. The music shifts. The lights pulse. Suddenly, all eight performers come together in a shared choreography.

Welcome to The Biotope – a wild and immersive performance. Here, bodies, sound, light, and movement collide in a living ecosystem that is constantly evolving.

Over the course of four hours, you’re free to move around the installation, explore the details, and create your own unique experience. Come and go as you like – and if you’re hooked, come back again the next night.

The Biotope unfolds in the former slaughterhouse in Aarhus’ Sydhavn and is a site-specific performance installation created in collaboration with the renowned Dutch company United Cowboys, known for their biotopes in cities like Cologne, Sofia, and Gothenburg.

In this raw industrial space, artistic energy meets curious audiences. Outside the performance itself, our neighbours at Sydhans will host a cozy lounge with cold drinks and warm vibes – before, during, and after the experience.

The Biotope runs from thursday the 28th to saturday the 30th of august, from 19:00-23:00/7-11 pm.

The Biotope x Sydhavnen

Set in the former slaughterhouse of Sydhavnen, The Biotope draws directly from the area’s raw aesthetics and unique pulse – where industry meets creative growth and social diversity.

This is an experience that, through installation and physical presence, explores human connection, collective energy, and what it means to be present in time and space.

It’s the first – but definitely not the last – time that Teater Fluks brings international performance art to Aarhus’ Sydhavn.
