Vocal Line: "Playing for Time"

Buy ticket

This year, Vocal Line’s traditional Aarhus Festival concert will take place in the beautiful setting of Christianskirken. The concert is titled “Playing for Time”, inspired by Peter Gabriel’s poignant song of the same name.

The theme reflects the urgent need for serious action on the climate crisis, while also addressing the escalating political challenges facing the world today. We can no longer afford to postpone what must be done. Parts of the program will respond directly to this theme, while audiences can also look forward to revisiting some of Vocal Line’s most beloved songs.

This will be the final Festival concert with Jens Johansen as chief conductor. Following Vocal Line’s 35th anniversary in January 2026, he will step down to make way for new leadership.

For nearly 35 years, Vocal Line and Jens Johansen have been at the forefront of rhythmic choral music, both in innovation and performance. Their constant pursuit of new modes of expression has ensured that the award-winning choir remains in a state of creative evolution. Vocal Line is boldly curious and fearlessly experimental, continually challenging audiences’ perceptions of what choral music can be.

When Vocal Line performs at Christianskirken during the Aarhus Festival, audiences can expect a rich tapestry of powerful harmonies and atmospheric beauty. The choir captivates both longtime followers and newcomers alike. Their razor-sharp precision and musical presence leave a lasting impression.

In short: No one sounds quite like Vocal Line.
