A Few Stitches for the Neighbourhood

As part of Aarhus Festival, we invite you to join a slow, shared making experience.

Take a seat, pick up a needle, and add a few stitches to a large communal tablecloth. Together we'll embroider everything that belongs around a good meal—glasses, cutlery, lemons, candles, gravy boats, crumbs, and the small stories woven between the threads.

No embroidery experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity, let your hands do the work for a while, and perhaps strike up a conversation with the person sitting next to you.

When we make things with our hands, the pace naturally slows. Research within craft psychology suggests that creative handwork can foster calm, presence, and a stronger sense of connection. One stitch at a time.

Drop by Kulturbodega Bellis. Stay for five minutes or the whole afternoon.

The tablecloth grows with every person who takes a seat.

Later that evening, the tablecloth will become part of the setting for our long-table dinner, sNak & Æd x Hele Aarhus fejrer: Vores allesammens Aarhus, taking place on 5 September 2026. It will serve as a gathering point for shared meals, neighbourly connection, and conversations about our shared city. Read more about the event here: https://bellisbellis.dk/events.
