Brahms – Ein Deutsches Requiem
Brahms' immortal Requiem in a version for choir, soloists and grand piano - a work that frees itself from the liturgy of the Catholic Mass and addresses the bereaved, the anxious, the grieving. As the first stanza begins: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted".
It is a heartfelt and personal work that at the same time conveys common human experiences about darkness - and hope. Brahms' own version for piano, instead of orchestra, contributes a special intimacy to the immortal music.
For the occasion, Concert Clemens has been expanded with young talents and former members of the ensemble.
