Classical on grass - The Danish Guitar Quartet
Sunday mornings in Musikhusparken take on a new sound with Klassisk på græs – a free concert series where the music is allowed to unfold at its own pace. Settle down on a blanket, lean back on the grass and let your gaze wander as the music fills the park. There are no words from the stage – only notes floating freely between the treetops and the sky, inviting the audience to find calm, contemplation and a sense of presence in the heart of the city.
The Danish Guitar Quartet brings classical music to life on four classical guitars – and with so many strings in play, they create a richness of sound and dynamic range you might not have thought possible on the classical guitar. The quartet consists of Thea Vesti Pedersen, Kristian Lager, Martin Stæhr Haugaard and Mikkel Lynggaard, who together invite you to enjoy a relaxed Sunday morning in Musikhusparken.
For Klassisk på græs, the quartet presents a varied programme. Among the works, you can experience Vivaldi’s famous guitar concerto in a new and imaginative arrangement, alongside the minimalism of Philip Glass, which takes on a captivating and almost hypnotic quality in the sound world of the classical guitar.
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Teitur has also composed Chinese Whisper for the Danish Guitar Quartet. The quartet will perform this beautiful and poetic work as part of Sunday morning’s concert.
