Co-Crochet at TESE <3

Co-Crochet is a vibrant, highly tactile participatory art project by scenographer and textile artist Caroline Bang.

The project takes the form of an open workshop where participants are invited to bring a piece of textile they no longer use. They learn how to cut the fabric into textile yarn and “giant crochet” it using their fingers as crochet hooks, contributing to a large collective artwork made from recycled textiles. Along the way, conversations unfold about the lives of these textiles and the memories we attach to them.

People of all ages are welcome, and no previous experience with crochet or textile crafts is required. Younger children must be accompanied by an adult. Participation in Co-Crochet takes approximately one hour, though visitors are free to engage at their own pace and level of immersion during the workshop’s opening hours.

When the workshop is not taking place, the work can be experienced as a textile installation at Gallery TESE.

Co-Crochet has previously been presented in Belgium, Norway, and Sweden—and during Festugen, it arrives in Aarhus.
