Den Lille Dør
Den Lille Dør is an ambient/jazz/rock project founded by Andrea Sciusco, which aims to create a live experience where photographic art, field recordings, music and improvisation blend together. The project is based on Andrea’s photographs, taken with an old analogue camera around (mostly in) North Jutland. The images are arranged into sequences, whilst the band plays music live to accompany them on a large screen. The live experience also features field recordings of natural sounds from the locations where the photographs were taken — such as leaves, animals and water — so that the music grows directly out of the atmosphere and sounds of the place itself. The result is an immersive and atmospheric experience that explores the relationship between community and solitude, people, God and nature.
About Andrea Sciusco
Andrea Sciusco is a drummer and composer from Rome, Italy, and trained in jazz drums at Siena Jazz University. He moved to Aalborg to complete his master’s degree and has since fallen completely in love with the Danish countryside. Andrea has always composed highly cinematic music, and *Den Lille Dør* is intended as a kind of tribute — a big ‘thank you’ for all the fantastic experiences and adventures that North Jutland and the surrounding area have given him so far. He has two conditions affecting his wrists, which mean he cannot play the drums in a completely traditional and technical way. This has forced him to find his own approach to the instrument and to explore new directions and boundaries within art and music.
