Downtown July
Downtown July describe themselves as a ‘love invasion’ from Central Jutland – and in 2025, the band went from being a promising act to a force shaping the national music scene. With a string of successful singles, the title of ‘Ugens Uundgåelige’ on P3, a victory in KarriereKanonen and an extensive autumn tour featuring 15 concerts in Denmark and Norway, the band cemented its position on the Danish music scene.
Now comes the next chapter. In February, Downtown July released their long-awaited debut album ‘Kravler før vi går’, an album that encapsulates six years of development, friendship and artistic ambition. The album is released on the band’s own record label, produced by Anders Boll (Ganger, Nephew, Rigmor and others) and created right in the heart of Aarhus at Sydhavnen.
Musically, it operates in a space where high poetry meets casual banter, and where introverted emotions are shouted out over pulsating grooves and gripping melodies. It sounds as if TV-2 had a latecomer in the form of PATINA – familiar, yet entirely their own. GAFFA awards the album five stars:
“Kravler før vi går is a compelling coming-of-age album that feels thoroughly crafted and ambitious without losing its immediate immediacy. It’s rare for a debut album to feel both so cohesive and so alive.”
