Eternal Embrace
Anni Laukka’s *Eternal Embrace* depicts a boy embracing his mother’s grave. In the shadows, the mother’s memory – or spirit – appears and protects the child, even though the boy cannot see it.
Anni Laukka (1982) is a Finnish artist who works with sculpture, light and shadow. At first glance, her shadow works may appear to be one thing, whilst the light reveals a completely different figure in the shadow. In this way, she explores the visible and the hidden – and weaves multiple narratives into a single work.
