Hafla Festival Week at Café Mellemfolk
Hafla Festival Week at Café Mellemfolk
Café Mellemfolk once again invites you to the Hafla Festival – two days packed with food, music, dancing, community and solidarity in the café’s cosy courtyard.
On Friday, the festivities kick off with a performance by the Kurdish dance group Koma AVA, who will perform the traditional Govend dance in traditional costumes. After the performance, the audience will be invited onto the dance floor for a short workshop. Later , DJ Basel will take over with some funky tunes, whilst Arabic-inspired mezze and special summer cocktails are served.
On Saturday, Hafla continues with activities in the courtyard throughout the day. Among other things, you can take part in the Gaza Tombola and win prizes, whilst at the same time supporting Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke’s work in Gaza. At 2.00 pm , the Reading Society invites you to a reading from the Palestinian classic *Men in the Sun*, and at 4.00 pm, Middle East historian Mattias will talk about the Arabic language.
From 5 pm, De4Maver will be providing jazz in the courtyard, before another DJ takes over later in the evening to keep the party going from the outdoor stage.
Throughout the Hafla, you can enjoy mezze, summer drinks and the festive atmosphere in the courtyard. The proceeds from the raffle will be donated directly to Mellemfolkeligt Samvirke’s Gaza Fund, which supports civilians in Gaza.
