It's a lot to be human, to be here

We live in an age where boundaries loom large. Between countries and cultures, between people and attitudes.

But perhaps neighbourliness is not just something that arises between houses and national borders. Perhaps it also arises in those moments when we listen, recognise ourselves in one another and share a space or a moment.

In this concert, Vocal Line invites the audience on a musical journey through the experiences we share as human beings. Through songs about longing, love, loss, hope and belonging, we explore the invisible connections and forces that draw us towards one another, and the boundaries we must learn to live with.

The concert’s title is taken from a line in Gabriel Kahane’s *Bright Forms*: “It’s a lot to be human, to be here.” A simple sentence that reminds us just how complex and beautiful it is to be human amongst other people.

The concert also marks a new chapter in Vocal Line’s history. After 35 years as artistic director, Jens Johansen has handed over the leadership of the choir to Line Groth and Morten Vinther, and at this concert the audience will experience Vocal Line under the direction of Line Groth.
