Jane & Shane

Jane & Shane are an Irish-English duo consisting of English musician Jane Clark (violin and vocals) and Irish musician Shane Donnelly (vocals, guitar, and bodhrán). Jane & Shane primarily perform Irish and English folk music, often blended with elements of jazz and bluegrass.

The duo met in 2000 and soon began performing together. They became widely known in Denmark after taking part in sections of entertainer Niels Hausgaard’s 2003 tour and show, Finer han kanten?. In 2005, they released their debut album, Shine, and two years later they recorded their second album, featuring Irish violinist John Sheahan of The Dubliners. On this album, they also recorded a folk-inspired version of Vivaldi’s Corrente della Sonata III.

In 2009, they performed with the Danish National Chamber Orchestra at the Ledreborg Castle Concert in Ledreborg Castle Park before an audience of approximately 30,000 people. In 2013, they opened the orchestra’s New Year Concert. They have toured extensively throughout Denmark and have appeared at major events and venues such as the Tønder Festival, Skagen Festival, and Musikhuset Aarhus.

In addition, they have frequently joined The Dubliners on their Danish tours and have performed concerts in Norway and Greenland in connection with national celebrations.
