JOHNNY HORSEPOWER

Johnny Horsepower are a Johnny Cash tribute band and the only ones in Denmark who perform ONLY Johnny Cash’s music. So if you haven’t had the chance to experience Johnny Cash’s concerts, Johnny Horsepower are the closest you can get to that. It was the lead singer who was inspired to put together a band to play Johnny Cash’s music. When you close your eyes and just listen to Johnny Horsepower’s concerts, it’s like being at a Johnny Cash concert.

Their music is rooted in the sound and instrumentation of 1955, when Johnny Cash & The Tennessee Two first made their breakthrough. The music appeals to both young and older audiences, and there’s no doubt that they can get the party going in true Johnny Cash style.

The trio are not only known for their passionate stage presence and intense atmosphere, but also for their recreation of the sound that characterises Johnny Cash. The lead singer’s voice is very close to that of a young Johnny Cash, and the rendition is so authentic and fine that within moments you are completely transported back to the 1950s. It has to be said that, with Johnny Horsepower, Johnny Cash’s music is still very much alive and well.

Jørgen de Mylius, who was the compère, was very enthusiastic. Since then, he has regularly played tracks from Johnny Horsepower’s three albums on the legendary programmes *Eldorado* and *Danskpoppen*. Jørgen de Mylius encouraged the trio to record a new studio album and even had a couple of suggestions for the track selection. Country star Tamra Rosanes also lent her support and featured on two duets. The album was finally released in 2014 under the title “Cash Cover With Attitude”.

Johnny Horsepower primarily interprets material from Johnny Cash’s ‘Golden’ period from 1955–1972, though with forays into later releases throughout his career right up to his death in 2003. Experience hits such as ‘Ring of Fire’, ‘Folsom Prison Blues’, ‘I Walk the Line’, ‘San Quentin’ and many more.
