KNIT & DRINK – with yakitori and ice-cold white wine ad libitum
Bring your knitting, enjoy delicious yakitori-style barbecue food Shima-style, sip ice-cold white wine and join us for a cosy late-summer evening at Shima during Aarhus Festuge.
We’re hosting ‘Knit & Drink’, an informal evening welcoming experienced knitters, beginners and anyone simply curious about the special sense of community that comes with handcrafts. Throughout the evening, food will be served from our yakitori grill <3
Participation costs 500 DKK, and our special yakitori grill platter and white wine (or homemade lemonade) ad libitum are included in the price.
The evening’s discussion will be moderated by art historian and crocheter Alberte Edberg Behncke, who will be joined by musician and knitwear designer Albert Østergaard and Filippa Kier Droob, a researcher in knitting at Aarhus University, for a discussion on knitting as a creative practice, culture and community. Why has knitting become so popular? What can handicrafts do for us in our digital daily lives? And how does yarn become art, identity and community?
The discussion will be relaxed and informal, and there will, of course, be an opportunity to ask questions and share your own experiences along the way.
Knitting, drinks and yakitori
To mark the festival week, our usual menu will be on hold, and instead we’ll be firing up the grill and serving a proper Shima-style yakitori platter with loads of delicious treats from our local suppliers: Sommergrønt, Clausens Fiskehandel, SlagterRiget and PureDansk. The menu will be published on our website as the date approaches. We’ll fire up the yakitori grill at 5 pm and start grilling once the coals are ready <3
Book your ticket here – payment is due on the night: https://shimaaarhus.superbexperience.com/reserve/experience/6a437c369cbd1a421d1bd05c
