The aim is to transform a shop front into a space for cultural immersion.
Join us on an atmospheric stroll through Aarhus, where the city’s streets and squares are transformed into a living work of art during the Festival of Light at Aarhus Festuge.
Since 2021, light art has been a highlight of Aarhus Festuge. In 2026, we’ll turn our attention to untapped potential: some of the empty shop windows in Aarhus city centre. Here, we’ll create small, illuminated exhibitions that transform the empty windows into artistic experiences.
Your guide will take you past some of the light installations created by Danish and international artists – from Toldboden to works in some of the city’s empty shops. Along the way, you’ll gain an insight into the artistic ideas behind the works and the stories of how light can transform both urban spaces and atmosphere.
A sensory and inspiring experience where you’ll see Aarhus from new angles – through the interplay of light and shadow.
Turen strækker sig over ca. 5 km og varer omkring 2 timer i roligt tempo.
Alle vandringer starter ved cykelparkeringen ved Aarhus Rutebilstation – på den modsatte side af vejen i forhold til Badeanstalten Spanien. Start- og slutsted er ikke samme sted.
En del af ruten går langs havneområdet, hvor det ofte kan føles køligt. Vi anbefaler at klæde sig efter vejret og medbringe en ekstra trøje eller jakke.
Ruten er generelt egnet for kørestole, men enkelte strækninger kan byde på udfordringer, hvor adgangsforholdene gør det vanskeligt eller ikke muligt at komme frem.
