Live Art for Children 2026: RUIN RECALLED

What things do you keep, even though you don’t use them? What do they say about you? And what happens to our memories when they are shared with others?

These are the questions behind Leif Holmstrand’s Ruin Recalled – a large, woven collaborative work that will take shape at Udsigten in DOKK1 during the “Live Art for Children” festival. We invite everyone to take part:

Children, young people, adults and older people are invited to bring a personal item with them and, together with Leif Holmstrand, weave it into the work. It could be something that reminds you of a person, an event or a particular time in your life. Please choose an item you’re ready to pass on.

Simply turn up at “Udsigten” at DOKK1 with an item and help weave it into the artwork during the daily opening hours when Leif Holmstrand is present in person.

Leif Holmstrand is an artist, writer and musician whose work is rooted in queer historiography and non-heteronormative subcultural forms of expression. He lives and works in Malmö.

Live Art for Children 2026 invites children and adults to join artists from Denmark and abroad in exploring some of the social challenges facing Aarhus. Leif Holmstrand’s RUIN RECALLED is one of several works in which the audience are not merely spectators, but help to shape what happens.

Most works are free to attend and require no booking. Just turn up!
