Live Art for Children 2026: THE NEW SCHOOL

Hello and welcome to The New School!

The New School is a different kind of institution that we’re building together. Here, you can learn things in completely new ways. The New School has no limits. It can be anything you want it to be. Who works at The New School? What do the classrooms look like? What subjects and books are there? It’s up to you!

On the ramp by the library, you’ll find some large display boards. They describe different places, people and things. There are instructions and questions on each display board. Some of them will send you off to explore the building and the surroundings at DOKK1 before you can fill in the forms with drawings, paintings and writing.

Here, the many answers and questions are brought together to form a large model of a new school, which is constantly under discussion. Eventually, all the panels will come together to form a large map of The New School, of which your contribution is an important part.

John Huntington will be present every day during the festival and will be happy to help you get started. So do pop by and help create The New School!

John Huntington is based in Gothenburg, where he fights rationality, obedience and efficiency in everyday life, work and public administration. Taking the office and work as social, cultural and physical phenomena as his starting point, he explores the structures and institutions that shape our everyday lives.

The New School is part of Live Art for Children 2026, where citizens of all ages are invited to explore the structures and institutions that shape society and everyday life in Aarhus Municipality.

Ages 6 and over.
