Oja: West African Dance & Drumming

Join Oja for an energetic experience of West African dance and drumming!

Oja is a dance and drumming association based in Aarhus that has been sharing the rich traditions of West African dance and music for more than 20 years. The group was founded by Jesse Gorr, who has roots in Ghana and has been a key figure in Aarhus' West African dance community for many years.

Their repertoire is rooted in traditional dances and rhythms from countries including Senegal, Guinea, Ghana, and Côte d'Ivoire, where the connection between dance, drumming, and community is at the heart of every performance. Here, the audience isn't just watching—everyone is invited to be part of the experience.

The event begins with a vibrant performance full of rhythm, dance, and live drumming. Afterwards, everyone is welcome to join an open workshop, where you'll have the chance to dance, try the drums, and experience the joy of West African music and movement firsthand.

We can't wait to see you!
