Okiii

Okiii is a new trio comprising three musicians from the Aarhus music and club scene: Mikas Bøgh, Helen Namdori and Jakob De Place. Mikas and Jakob are both trained soloists from the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus. They have been working together for a number of years – both in Mali with their former band Faratuben and later in Denmark with Akabanga. Helen is actually a qualified structural engineer, but since 2022 she has been an active part of Aarhus’s music scene as a singer, DJ and producer – including in the DJ collectives Pana Radio and VVE.

The band Okiii has been around since May 2025 and started out as a reaction against the prevalence of overly trivial dance music. In a small studio above the A-house at the Institute for (X), the trio began producing beats together. Their ambition was to create some massive, uplifting club music that would bring to life the kind of dance floors they themselves missed and craved.
