Melancholy, energy, and community in full bloom  

Purpur consists of seven strong musicians who together create a pulsating and poetic sound universe. With roots in jazz, pop, and folk, they combine Danish lyrics, brass, and rhythms into a sound that is both tightly arranged and vividly improvised. 
 
Their music balances Nordic melancholy with festive energy, inviting audiences into a space of community, dynamics, and presence. 
 
Signe Bang Nielsen, Lea Haun Lund, Elvine Witt Melchiorsen, Sophie Balund, Maria Eppler, Cille Kjærsgaard Larsen, and Sille Frost Pedersen form the musical foundation of Purpur, who won the Jazz Competition 2026 in May.
