Seeing Stars

Switch off the lights – and watch the stars return above Aarhus.

As the grand finale of Aarhus Festival, internationally acclaimed Dutch artist Daan Roosegaarde invites the whole city to take part in Seeing Stars. On Sunday 6 September, the lights will be switched off across a central area of Aarhus, allowing the night sky to reveal itself in all its splendour.

Accompanied by brass musicians from the Royal Academy of Music Aarhus/Aalborg, darkness becomes a shared experience as buildings, businesses and residents turn off their lights together. For one special moment, the city will come together to let the stars shine once more.

In Musikhusparken, you can experience the artwork up close, while astronomers from Ole Rømer Observatory and SpaCe – Aarhus Space Centre will be on hand with telescopes, offering the chance to explore stars, planets and other celestial objects.
