Songs of Labour at Sea

The Aarhus-based duo Steen and Henning are bringing some friends along when they host an unofficial festival opening with “Songs of Labour at Sea” – New old songs about the sea and seafarers – at Café Oskar, Mejlgade 49 in Aarhus, on Friday 28 August at 4.00 pm.

Songs of Labour at Sea were catchy travelling songs, and as such they often exist in many versions and in several languages. The best sea shanties and shanties have now been given a new lease of life – with Danish lyrics – in Steen and Henning’s album project “New Old Songs of the Sea and the People”, which is currently being recorded.

Steen and Henning, together with friends, will be performing a selection from the project, as well as other tracks from their extensive repertoire.
