SOULMEETING
Soul Meeting is a band that has worked tirelessly for many years to promote authentic Motown soul music.
It is considered one of the highlights of rock history – just think of names such as Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Wilson Pickett, Stevie Wonder, the Four Tops, the Supremes and all the others. With forays into other genres from the same era, Soul Meeting transforms these immortal hits into the sweaty rock ’n’ soul of the time – and who could resist asking a beautiful woman to dance?
Line-up:
Eigil Madsen: Drums, vocals.
Eigil bought his first drum kit with his confirmation money back in 1966, and just two years later he joined the legendary Aarhus band Daisy alongside Lars Muhl, amongst others. Since then, he has played with Brdr. Olsen, Niller & Co. and 8000 C, amongst others, before founding Soul Meeting with Lars Schroeder, a band that has now been going strong for nearly 30 years.
Lars Schroeder: Guitar, vocals
Lars is a co-founder of Soul Meeting, but before that he played with bands such as Straight, Midtkraft, Fanny and others, and also for a short time with a young lad called Thomas Helmig. Now, however, his vocals and guitar are an integral part of the band, where he and Eigil consider themselves the backbone.
Mogens Balle: Keyboards/bass
Mogens is the newest member of the band, and that’s probably the only context in which anyone would apply that adjective to him. Mogens wasn’t allowed to spend his confirmation money on musical instruments, so they were bought on hire purchase at 75 kr. a month. Since then, he has played with, amongst others, Fenders, Klüver’s Big Band and the Big Joe Band, as well as spending six years with Bamses Venner. He has always wanted to play soul music, and now his wish has finally come true.
