Swim by night

We’re bringing back Swim By Night during the Aarhus Festuge with a relay race where each team swims 4 × 500 meters at dusk. The 500-meter loop takes place in the bay just below Lighthouse on Aarhus Ø. The race is all about fun, and there will be great prizes for the best dressed teams!

Before the race, all participants are invited to the top floor of Denmark’s tallest building, Lighthouse, where we’ll enjoy the view over the bay and the festival-lit city. Throughout the event, you can buy grilled sausages, draft beer, and soft drinks by the waterfront.

Distances and Prices

4 × 500 m Relay MIX – 600 DKK (Bring together friends, colleagues, or family and each swim 500 m)

Program – September 3, 2026

17:00 – Access to Lighthouse is available until 19:00

19:00 – The area opens with grilled sausages and draft beer. Changing facilities open at the National Sailing Center

20:15 – Race briefing on the promenade below Lighthouse

20:30 – Relay race starts

21:30 – The relay ends, but the bar stays open. Prizes for the best costumed teams.

22:00 – The bar closes

You must be able to swim at least 500 m in a pool.

A swim buoy is mandatory – preferably with a light attached. Wetsuits are strongly recommended for safety reasons. Safety on the water is provided by lifeguards on SUP boards.

Minimum age: 15 years.

Changing rooms and toilets are available at the Aarhus International Sailing Center, Ester Aggebos Gade 80A.

The event may be cancelled without refund due to poor water quality, low temperatures, or other safety concerns. Participation is at your own risk.
