What is the ocean to you?
What is the ocean to you? A memory, a sound, a feeling, a smell, a fear, a place of freedom – or something entirely different? In this creative workshop, Kend Dit Hav invites you to explore your personal relationship with the sea through drawing, poetry, jewellery-making, seaweed printing and other creative expressions.
As part of the theme Earthbound futures, we focus on the connection between humans and the ocean. The sea is not only a place we visit in summer. It is part of our climate, our history, our food, our bodies and our ideas about the future. Perhaps you associate the ocean with childhood, holidays, calmness, storms, loss, curiosity or responsibility. Perhaps you carry the sea with you without even noticing.
You can begin with questions such as: What is your strongest memory of the sea? Which sounds do you connect with the ocean? When do you feel most connected to the ocean? What would your life look like if you lived beneath the surface of the sea? The workshop is open, sensory and for all ages – whether you want to draw, write, shape, listen or simply be inspired.
