Step into UngK during the Festival, and become intimately connected to the Aarhus nature in the sensory work 'Lost Sound' created by Dutch artist Henk Schut.

When was the last time you were in contact with nature? Like for real? We run through the woods with earplugs in our ears or sit in long queues of cars along the harbour. But how often do we stop and listen to the nature around us?

Henk Schut (NL) has created the site-specific work 'Lost Sound', a fascinating installation that connects us directly with the sounds and vibrations of nature. You can experience the work in UngK during the Festival Week from 29 August to 3 September 2025.

The sound of Aarhus

'Lost Sound' is like experiencing a sonic and sensory live stream from the nature of Aarhus.

Henk Schut's ability to invite nature into UngK is linked to various data centres that have been placed around Aarhus. This could be at the harbour or in Risskov, for example.

Nature is also physically in place in the space. Leaves and soil are placed on large speakers and set in motion through the transmitted sounds and vibrations from the Aarhus nature.

We hope that 'Lost Sound' as a kind of alternative nature communication can arouse curiosity and reflection on all that nature can offer us and why we should protect it. So go ahead and feel all the fascinating sounds of life that nature makes when we listen to it.
